Cheektowaga Cop Pulls Gun At Golf Course
Under normal circumstances, taking a trip to the golf course is a fun and relaxing experience. Regardless of your skill level, most people have a fine time while putting on the back nine. However, that doesn't mean that the occasional burst of excitement doesn't happen from time to time.
Sometimes there's a huge shot that sends your whole golfing group into a frenzy. Other times, you find yourself in the middle of a great conversation in the club or out on the green. No matter what is going on, it usually doesn't involve guns. That is, until the other day when a gun was pulled out on a group of golfers by someone unexpected.
Cheektowaga Town Police Officer Pulls Gun On Golfers
We're all just now becoming aware of an incident that happened on June 5, 2025, at the Glen Oak Golf Course in Amherst, New York, when a firearm was pulled out during some sort of altercation. According to reporting from WIVB-TV, an off-duty Cheektowaga Police officer allegedly pulled his gun out and waved it in a threatening manner at people on the golf course after an argument.
It seems the altercation started after a golf ball was accidentally hit in the direction of the off-duty officer by a golf group. It appears that the officer, who was not on duty at the time, didn't appreciate the accident and told the golfers to get back while he had his weapon unholstered.
The officer, whose name has not been released by the Amherst Police Department, was not arrested, and it is not clear if he was charged with any crimes.
According to WIVB-TV, the Cheektowaga Police Department is investigating the incident.
Do you think an average citizen would receive this same treatment if they pulled a firearm out on a group of golfers?
