Chick-Fil-A Data Breach Exposes Information From New York Customers
People who use the Chick-Fil-A app or their website might want to double-check some of their personal accounts. A data breach may have exposed some of their information.
Chick-Fil-A was the victim of a cyber attack in June
Chick-Fil-A sent a letter to some of its customers to inform them that they experienced a "data security incident" somewhere between June 17th and June 19th of this year. They claim that as soon as they identified the suspicious activity they took steps to prevent any further unauthorized activity and began an investigation. They found that unauthorized parties may have accessed information in the Chick-fil-A One accounts of customers in 10 states, including the District of Columbia, Iowa, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont, and a couple thousand residents of Texas.
What information was exposed?
According to the letter, the information that the attackers could have obtained includes your name, email address, Chick-fil-A One membership number and pay number, QR code, last four digits of your creidit/debit card number, and the amount of money left on a Chick-fil-A gift card.
If you had saved your month and day of your birthday, phone number, and address to your account, they might have that information too.
What should you do?
They said that as soon as they discovered the incident, they forced everyone to log out of the affected accounts, and they removed any stored payment methods. They also added rewards to your account.
They're encouraging everyone to reset their passwords and monitor their personal information in the coming weeks and months. Be sure to review your credit reports and account statements.
