What a great night for a show! The first night of The Jam in the Valley 2017 was Thursday at Buffalo Hill Village and the fans that got to the show early were greeted by a great blend of country music.

Along with Western New York's, Eric Van Houten and Rough Stock, Cody Johnson and Old Dominion put on an incredible show for the fans that came from all over Western New York, Canada, Pennsylvania and Ohio.

I think the artist who felt surprisingly welcome was Cody Johnson. At the end of almost every song he sang, Johnson commented how happy he was to see the fans singing along to the words of his songs. (A big honor for an independent artist) The Texas singer/songwriter has a long tradition of being a mega star in the Lonestar State and has started to take his show on the road to all of America. Those of us that got to see his show on Thursday are thankful.

Hit after hit, Cody Johnson seemed to feel right at home even though he was thousands of miles from it. I was pleased to see him do some throwback covers as well including a rockin' version of Charlie Daniels' hit "Long Haired Country Boy."

True, Cody Johnson appeals to rodeo fans and those that love the cowboy and ranching way of life. However, I think when his bus rolled out of Varysburg,NY, his audience grew as was evident by the long line at his merchandise stand.

Old Dominion took the stage to headline the evening and were quick to thank the Jam in the Valley for inviting them back. It was a great night of music and JITV sure has come a long way since the days of small trailer and a few hundred people.JITV continues Friday and Saturday with the large fireworks to wrap up the weekend!
