Check Out This Amazing Mural Of A Famous Face From Buffalo
One of Western New York’s most famous faces has been commemorated in one of the coolest ways we’ve ever seen.
If you’ve ever been to a big event in the area, whether it’s a Buffalo Bills game at Highmark Stadium, a concert at KeyBank Center, or a minor league baseball game in Rochester, we can almost guarantee you’ll spot one particular familiar face.
Who is Conehead?
Tom Girot, better known to his loyal fans as “Conehead,” has been a beloved public figure in both the 716 and the 585 area codes for decades. He first started vending drinks and snacks with the now defunct Buffalo Braves in the early seventies, but it wasn’t until he donned his iconic hat at a Bills game in 1977 (which his wife originally bought for her Halloween costume that year) that Conehead was born, along with his legendary “Conehead Guarantee” catchphrase: “Get a warm beer from me, you drink it for free.”
He told MiLB.com back in 2014,
“My job is to get noticed, to give good service. I always say that my job is to enhance the experience of the customer. If I can give them good service and something a little bit memorable, then I've done my job.”
And he sure has, so much so that one talented Western New York resident found a unique way to show how much we continue to appreciate his hard work over the years.
New Conehead Mural Graces Building In Rochester
You’ve got to admit, this is a pretty cool way to be honored.
Popular Rochester artist Thievin’ Stephen, known for his unique and creative murals painted throughout the city of Rochester, New York, paid homage to our favorite beer vendor with a massive new work of art adorned with his image.
We know Girot as an incredibly humble and down to earth guy, so we wonder how he feels about a giant mural of his face on the side of a building in a city he visits so frequently. But nonetheless, it’s an amazing way to be honored.
If you’re in Rochester and want to see the new Conehead mural yourself, you can find it at 23 Arlington Street in the Neighborhood of the Arts area of the city.
