How do you whittle down a whole year's worth of music into your Top 5 songs?  That's always a tough thing to do.  Keep in mind this could easily be expanded into a Top 15 or even a Top 20.  So let's just say these songs would be among my favorite songs of 2014.

  • Hope You Get Lonely Tonight - Cole Swindell

Cole Swindell has been hanging out in Nashville writing songs for other artists for years.  Among his hits - Thomas Rhett's "Give Me Some of That", Florida Georgia Line's "This Is How We Roll" and Scotty McCreary's "Water Tower Town".  He broke out last year with "Chillin' It" but I love his voice and the emotion in "I Hope You Get Lonely Tonight".

  • Keep Them Kisses Comin' - Craig Campbell

What a great upbeat song.  It just makes you feel good.  It makes me smile.

  • Automatic - Miranda Lambert

I'm a fan of almost anything she comes out with.  "Automatic" is a nostalgic song about the ways things were and how they are now.  I like modern conveniences, but somehow things seemed so much better years ago and I miss those days.  Miranda's song expresses that.

  • Leave The Night On - Sam Hunt

He's a former big-time college football player turned songwriter who's had success with hit songs for Kenny Chesney, Keith Urban and Billy Currington.  In 2014 he hit it big himself with "Leave the Night On" - a song that went to Number One on the charts.

  • I Don't Dance - Lee Brice

Lee Brice has had his share of hits over the past few years including songs that went to Number One - "A Woman Like You", "I Drive Your Truck" and "Hard 2 Love".  But in 2014 he put out an absolutely beautiful love song that also went to Number One - "I Don't Dance".
