Depew Man Charged With Murder After Brutally Stabbing Ex-Wife

A Depew man violated an order of protection, which was issued to his ex-wife, and violently stabbed her to death in her home. According to Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn, the 38-year-old man was arraigned before State Supreme Court Justice Mark A. Montour this morning, December 13, 2021. He was charged with,

One count of Murder in the First Degree (Class “A-I” felony)
One count of Murder in the Second Degree (Class “A-I” felony)
One count of Aggravated Criminal Contempt (Class “D” felony)

On November 20, 2021 around 4:30 in the afternoon, Sayed Nasir of Depew allegedly broke into his ex-wife's home on North Creek Drive in the village. He violated an order of protection that had been issued to her against him. Once he was inside her house, he stabbed her repeatedly. His ex, 33-year-old Nazeefa D. Tahir, died at the scene of the crime. Nasir was on probation for domestic violence against his ex at the time of the murder. The previous incident took place on May 8, 2021, at approximately 5:43 pm. He also broke into her home at that time and physically assaulted her during an argument. Rather than receiving jail time, the justice system failed Tahir; only giving Nasir three years of probation. He was also supposed to take a 26-week domestic violence program. If he had received some jail time, she might be alive today.

He is currently being held without bail. He is due back in court on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at 11:00 am. He is facing a maximum of life in prison without parole if he is convicted on the charges against him.
