I'm sure you've seen a car's tire stricken with a "boot", happening when cars are illegally parked. That commonly used device will start being replaced for a new one called the "Barnacle."

According to WKBW, Allpro parking is ditching the traditional boot and switching to the barnacle.

So, how exactly does this thing work? And what makes it a better option over a boot hitched to the car?

The barnacle is attached to the windshield of a vehicle, rather than the wheel. The driver will be in control of paying the appropriate fine and getting the device removed, versus the long process of getting a boot removed.

Allpro said in a statement:

“The device has two commercial-grade suction cups that adhere to the vehicle windshield with 1,000 pounds of force. By obstructing the driver’s view, the Barnacle prohibits the legal operation of the vehicle rendering it immobilized. The device is equipped with tamper alarms and GPS tracking.”

The barnacle comes with instructions and you can pay online or over the phone 24 hours a day to have it removed. After that, you leave it in a dropbox next to the Allpro office.

“We value our customers and always want to provide the professional difference and a convenient experience,” Richard A. Serra, President and CEO of Allpro Parking said. “The Barnacle is a great solution for our company and for our customers - and is far less intrusive than the conventional methods of booting or towing. Parking with Allpro Parking is made easy."
