Cheektowaga is getting spooky ahead of Halloween night.

After COVID-19 halted some Halloween plans last year, one restaurant in Cheektowaga was determined to do anything they could to get kids around Western New York excited once again about the October holiday.

Located at 3601 Union Rd, you will find a Sonic Drive-In, and it may look a little more spooky than years prior. Sonic is hosting its first-ever “haunted drive thru” this year, but they only came up with the idea a few months ago.

Sonic got this car port, and it took approximately a day to assemble that, before they spent the next day decorating.

And if you are worried about the kids being scared, don’t worry -- it’s not that kind of drive thru. The Sonic Drive In designed the haunted drive thru to get the kids from Western New York excited about Halloween this season, so it isn’t designed to scare you. It is only spooky enough to get you in the Halloween spirit.

This is the first year that the restaurant has put this on for the holiday. As of now, the Cheektowaga location is the only Sonic Drive In to hold this haunted house in their drive thru, but if it receives positive feedback this year, it just might open the door for other Sonic’s in Western New York to do something similar next year.

The mini haunted house will be up until November 1, but if you prefer to eat at Sonic’s without the Halloween pizzazz, there will be a less spooky, more “normal” drive thru that you can utilize instead.
