In order for our lives to completely get back to normal, we need to find something that can prevent and cure COVID-19.  Doctors may have just done it.

According to WIVB, doctors at UPMC and the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine may have been able to isolate a molecule that completely neutralizes the virus that causes COVID-19.  The drug is being called Ab8.

The good news about it is that it is completely human.  By that it means that the molecule that they've isolated is not man-made.  It is created by human bodies that possess antibodies.  So for people who are skeptical about a vaccine or what they might put in it that could potentially be bad for your body,it should alleviate any worries.

“It’s small, it’s potent, it penetrates into tissues. It’s fully human, it’s active against resistant viruses,” - Dr. John Mellors, Chief of Infectious Diseases, UPMC and Pitt.

They are currently testing it on mice and hamsters to make sure it is safe for human consumption.  They're hoping to do some human clinical trials in 2021.

Three extra positives about this possible drug:

1.  It could be administered through inhalation

2.  It doesn't bind to human cells, but it penetrates tissue to get between the virus and the cell.

3.  Because it doesn't bind to human cells, there shouldn't be any negative side effects.

If this is the case, and this drug is able to make it into people's hands, we might be able to stop this virus in its tracks and go on with our normal lives again.
