Is he dead?

Groundhog Day is coming up and we are wondering if the second oldest Groundhog tradition is still happening. Of course, everyone knows that Punxsutawney Phil, the famous groundhog in Pennsylvania. But, you know that the groundhog that has been doing it longest behind Phil is Western New York's groundhog Dave. Now, we only are concered about Dave because he has not posted on Facebook or on his website in a year--which, to be honest, maybe they are just waiting for Groundhog's Day.

When Dave comes out of his house (you have to see it below it is awesome) if he SEES any part of his shadow then you can expect 6 more weeks of winter. If he does NOT see his shadow, then Spring will "be here sooner".

The temperature tomorrow will hit a low of -1 degrees and that is WITHOUT the windchill, so I am sure that the everyone is starting to rooting for the Springtime.

When is Groundhog Day 2026?

Groundhog Day this year is Monday, February 2, 2026. Of course Punxsutawney Phil is a national attraction and there is a huge party--there are so many people that most people have to try and see on a television or screen so far away from the actual spot where Phil is. Punxsutawney is just over 3 hours away from Buffalo, New York.

UPDATE: We got a phone call this morning with someone that thinks they have some juicy information and apparently, they have named Buffalo Bert, thinking he was a boy--but, they changed his name to DARLENE. We have still yet to get this confirmed.
