It looks like Mother Nature is bringing her own squirt gun to the Dyngus Day parade this year as rain is in the forecast for Monday.

Dyngus Day is a major holiday here in Western New York and many people plan to celebrate with drinks, pussy willows, and squirt guns. It is Polish tradition for people to hit each other with pussy willows and shoot other people with squirt guns.

It looks like Mother Nature will be providing her own version of the squirt gun with scattered rain showers expected across the area.

According to the National Weather Service of Buffalo, on Dyngus Day there will be mostly cloudy skies with a chance of rain showers on and off throughout the day. The rain will continue throughout the night and into Tuesday as well.

The historic Polonia Dyngus Day parade will begin at 5 pm and the new route this year will have the parade heading west on Broadway from Memorial Dr. to Fillmore Ave

If you plan on watching the parade or being a part of it you might want to grab some of your winter gear from storage. The highs on Monday are only expected to be in the upper 40s to around 50. With the rain and wind, the feel-like temperatures could be in the upper 30s.

There are expected to be over 100 floats taking part in the Polonia parade.  For a full look at all the Dyngus Day activities click HERE.

The rain will continue on Tuesday before the sunshine returns on Wednesday.
