Is This The Most Sold Item on Facebook Marketplace in Western New York?
It is the month of love, but it’s definitely not for everyone. Actually, it seems to be quite the opposite for many Western New Yorkers, and by the time you finish reading this, you’ll see why (trust me).
Suddenly, it is starting to make sense that National Singles Awareness Day is, quite literally, the day after Valentine’s Day, and if you are one of the people selling this special item on social media, I guess I can understand.
However, that doesn’t mean that you should buy this for your Valentine, especially if it was previously owned by someone else.
I’m talking about engagement rings.
There seems to have been a sudden increase of engagement rings being sold on social media, and maybe it is because we are adapting to online shopping and using newer tools, like Facebook marketplace, to resell our items that we no longer want.
Are Used Engagement Rings The New Trend?
But if you ask me (which I know you didn’t but since you’re still reading, I’m going to assume it’s ok to provide my two cents), buying or receiving a used engagement ring from a previous relationship that had a sour ending just seems like the easiest way to bring some bad voodoo into your relationship that had no business being there.
It’s one thing to have a ring passed down to you from couples over the years that had a happy and successful marriage, but to receive a ring from someone who broke it off with their significant other or fiance seems like you are doing yourself a disservice and jinxing everything that you have.
But hey, to each their own. If you find a ring that you like and you purchased it from a couple that didn’t work out, now you have a chance to give the ring a happy ending.
