Free COVID-19 Boosters Being Offered In Erie County

Even though Erie County remains at a low level for COVID-19 positivity rates the county recently announced that the county is offering a free 2nd booster shot for eligible residents.

Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz send out a Tweet stating that the county is offering a 2nd booster of Pfizer and Moderna vaccines for residents over the age of 50 or residents that are immunocompromised.

As of April 3rd, there were 103 new COVID-19 cases in Erie County. There have been 1,041 new cases since May 27th. There have been 215,360 total COVID-19 cases in Erie County to date.

The booster shots are available through Erie County Department of Health vaccine clinics and outreach sites. You can also schedule the 2nd booster show through the county's at-home Vax Visit program.

The booster is available to anyone in the county regardless of insurance coverage according to Erie County Commissioner of Health Dr. Gale Burstein.

“We are committed to vaccinating all who are eligible and willing to get this vaccine series,” Burstein said. “ECDOH will continue to work with community organizations, schools, municipalities, and businesses to improve access and provide evidence-based education about COVID-19 vaccines.”

Vaccination appointments can be made on the ECDOH website or call (716) 858-2929 for a Vax Visit. Walk-ins are welcome and the county is asking residents to bring their vaccination cards when they come for the booster.
