Both Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz and Buffalo Mayor Bryon Brown took to social media to call for health insurance providers to provide free COVID-19 tests to everyone.

County Executive Poloncarz tweeted out a letter that he sent to the CEOs of Health Now NY, Independent Health, and Univera Health Care.

Currently, some health care providers are only offering free COVID-19 testing if it is for a specific medical diagnosis.

Before getting a COVID-19 test done you might want to contact your health insurance provider to see if the cost of the test will be covered in full.

Both the Erie County Executive and the Mayor want to see that all COVID-19 tests be provided free of charge for everyone.
