Erie County Requiring Everyone To Wear Masks In County Buildings
As cases of COVID-19 cases continue to rise in Erie County, officials with the county announced that masks will be required for everyone who enters a county building.
Erie County is now at a substantial risk of transmission based on CDC guidelines because the transmission rate is higher than 50 per 100,000 people. The county will require employees, visitors, and vendors to wear masks anytime they are in a county building whether they have been vaccinated or not.

This policy covers all county-run buildings including the DMV. The county is also requiring all county employees to wear masks while they work off-site while they are on the clock.
The county is also advising that local businesses in the county should encourage their employees and customers to wear masks as well.
The City of Buffalo is also requiring all visitors and employees to wear masks while inside City Hall.

Currently, officials with Niagara County have not issued any mask mandates as of this writing. Niagara County according to the CDC is also in a "Substantial Risk" for transmission of the COVID-19 virus.
Currently, 53.9% of residents in Niagara County have been fully vaccinated while 57.5% of residents have had at least one dose of the vaccine.
Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, and Wyoming counties are still in the "Moderate Risk" for transmission according to the CDC.
