Field Is Now Set For Sunday’s Daytona 500
Kevin Harvick and Joey Logano were the winners of Thursday night's Gander RV Duel 150-mile qualifying races. That means that Harvick and Logano will line up in the second row for Sunday's Daytona 500 behind pole winner William Byron and Alex Bowman who earned the front row in last Sunday's qualifying.
Harvick led the final 44 laps of Thursday night's first Duel and held off Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. and Paul Menard over the final laps. Harvick will start third on Sunday behind Byron.
Logano will start on the outside of the second row behind Bowman on Sunday. Logano pulled out of line during the last lap and with an assist from teammate Ryan Blaney was able to pass Clint Bowyer and went on to win Thursday night's second Duel. Although he dominated the race, Bowyer settled for second place and he'll start in the third row on Sunday behind Logano.
Two drivers had to race their way into the starting grid. Brendan Gaughn edged out Joey Gase to finish 16th in the first race. Parker Kligerman also raced his way in by edging Tyler Reddick and Ryan Truex in the second race.
Pole sitter Byron led the first 15 laps of his race before falling back to protect his car for Sunday's race. He officially finished 16th.
