Following Canal Fest Cancelation, Another Buffalo Festival Pulls the Plug for 2021
Following the news that Canal Fest would be canceled again this summer, another popular Buffalo festival is shelving plans for a 2021 return.
After announcing plans to return earlier this month, the Allentown Art Festival confirmed they are canceling plans for the summer festival this season.
A statement from the president of the Allentown Art Festival Association, Rita Harrington Lippman, was posted to the organization's website.
"It is with great sadness, that we must announce the cancellation of the 2021 Allentown Art Festival. This was a heartbreaking decision to make.
Although we have been preparing to hold the show this year, the Covid restrictions on large group gatherings and our concern for the health and safety of our patrons, artists, and vendors prevents the return of our event this year."
The organization said they look forward to coming back in 2022.
At the beginning of March, it looked good for the event, as they were already accepting applications for artists.
A statement on the website for the Allentown Art Festival association said on March 1:
"Though the threat of the Covid-19 pandemic is still active we are in the process of planning for our 2021 64th Art Festival and looking forward to being together with you."
