The Buffalo Bills will host their very first game at their new home on Thursday. If you're going for the first time, what will you be allowed to bring in?

Security will look a little different at new Highmark Stadium

A few weeks ago, I was able to go to the red/blue scrimmage at the new stadium and I noticed that the security process was a little different at the new stadium. The main difference is that you won't need your ticket ready right away. Security is actually around the perimeter of the stadium like it was across the street but your tickets won't need to be out until you are walking into the building.

However, you will still need to be aware that even if you're not going into the building, you'll have to pass through security and will still be subject to what you can and cannot bring in.

What can you bring into the new stadium?

  • As it was before, there is a strict bag policy that has been set by the NFL. You'll be able to bring clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC bags that do not exceed 12" x 6" x 12 OR a one-gallon clear plastic freezer bag. If you still want to bring something like a purse, you can bring small clutch bags, approximately the size of a hand (4 ½" x 6 ½") along with one of the clear bag options.
  • You're good to go with a seat cushion as long as it's under 15" x 15" and they can't have armrests, zippers, pockets, flaps, or metal backs.
  • You can bring an ipad or a tablet.
  • Binoculars are fine.
  • Cameras are good too as long as the lens is less than 6" long.
  • As far as extra clothing or blankets go, they have to be carried loosely.

Here's what you can't bring into Highmark Stadium

  • Alcoholic beverages, illegal substances
  • Animals (with the exception of service animals for guests with disabilities)
  • Clutch bags not to exceed 4.5" x 6.5"
  • Beach balls, footballs, balls, inflatable devices (balloons)
  • Bottles, cans, thermoses, and other beverage containers
  • Cameras with lenses longer than six (6) inches
  • Clothing or material with profane language or obscene graphics or anything political in nature
  • Drones, Unmanned Aircraft Devices
  • Fireworks
  • Headwear or clothing that may impede the view of guests
  • Laptop computers, radios
  • Laser pointer devices, noisemakers
  • Promotional materials not approved by the Bills
  • Seat cushions larger than 15" x 15" or that contain armrests, zippers, pockets, flaps or metal backs
  • Selfie sticks, sticks or poles
  • Strollers
  • Tobacco products - including cigarettes/electronic cigarettes, chewing tobacco, nicotine pouches & lighters/matches
  • Umbrellas
  • Video cameras, monopods and tripods
  • Weapons (knives, box-cutters, firearms, etc.)
  • Any other item deemed dangerous or inappropriate

Keep in mind that if you bring these things to security and they don't let you in with them, they're also not allowed to hold onto them for you. So you'll end up giving them up at the gate. They're best to just be left at your car.
