It's that time of year again in Western New York.  Time for hundreds of kids to sing and dance in their High School Musical.

There's a reason why there was a movie called High School Musical.  Then there was a series about High School Musical the movie.  There is even a musical based on the movie "High School Musical."

They're huge!  And they're so good for kids that age.  When you're in high school it feels like there are two options when it comes to extracurricular activities.  It's either sports or it's something to do with music.

When I was in school I chose sports.  I played football.  I loved everything about it.  I loved that it taught me about leadership and how to work with a team.  I loved the comradery and that it was physical. It kept me in good shape. I never knew that musicals could offer all the same things.

My son took up musicals when he was really young and realized right away which path he was going to take.  That's where he found his people.  They were like a family.  He learned about teamwork and leadership.  Sometimes he had really great leaders to follow and then he learned how to become that leader for others.  He had to memorize lines and then deliver them all while singing and dancing his heart out.  He's graduated and moved on to college now but he still talks about how much they meant to him when he was there on stage.

I can't say enough about how impactful musicals were for him and in turn for us.  These kids (and other adults in the community) work long and hard to put on incredible shows and over the last couple of years I've done my best to help them put some people in the seats to see them.  If you or your school have a musical coming up, please send me as much info as you can about it.  I'd love to add it to the list here.  Until then, here is the information I could find on high school musicals that are coming up for the 2025 season.
