Halloween is about three weeks away and I’ve already seen people with carved jack-o-lanterns in front of their houses.  A carved pumpkin begins rotting as soon as you cut it open.  I thought it would be helpful to track down some ways to help preserve the pumpkin.

Soak the pumpkin in bleach.  Spray white glue inside the pumpkin.  Apply petroleum jelly to the outside of the pumpkin and coat the inside as well.  Coat the inside with Acrylic spray or you can even buy a product called pumpkin fresh and spray the inside of the pumpkin.

Of course these are not fool proof but they all will slow the rotting process for longer pumpkin life.  Happy carving.
