As summer rages on, one thing that poeple haven't been looking forward to is hurricane season. However, just as the pages turn, so does the seasons and the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season.
Since the season started on June 1st, we've seen a total of 5 named storms develop in Atlantic Ocean with the latest storm, Hurricane Erin, becoming the strongest we've seen so for. Hurricane Erin, which is currently raging of the in the Atlantic, started to develop on August 9th off of Western Africa and has steadily gained strength.
After the storm was surveyed by the United States Air Force, the storm was confirmed to have developed into a Category 5 hurricane.
Look Inside The Middle Of Hurricane Erin
The 53rd Weather Reconnaissance Squadron of the United States Air Force Reserve 403rd Wing, based at Keesler Air Force Base in Mississippi, is one of the military units who spend time chasing storms around the United States.
The Hurricane Hunters had the opportunity to fly directly into Hurricane Erin in their Lockheed WC-130J Weatherbird and gathered some important measurements, along with some amazing video.
With maximum sustained winds of more than 160 mph which stretched out for more than 160 miles from its center, Hurricane Erin is a huge storm that has the ability to impact a large chunk of the eastern United States if this storm makes landfall.

While in this storm is massive, meteorologist's around the nation expect it to turn northeast and head back out to sea; but before it does so, it will likely send waves as large as 20 feet tall onto the eastern shore of several US States.
