Hyatt Regency Hotel To Permanently Close In Downtown Buffalo
We have wondered how many businesses would be forced to close because of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the city of Buffalo just got a big blow.
According to WKBW, the Hyatt Regency Hotel in downtown Buffalo is closing for good. It's the largest hotel in downtown Buffalo.
The hotel suspended all operations on April 1st because of the pandemic.
This from a Hyatt spokesperson:
"Unfortunately, as Hyatt will no longer be operating the hotel, we've been forced to make the extremely difficult decision to implement layoffs across our hotel workforce," a spokesperson said in a statement. "A priority for us is to ensure our colleagues are being cared for during this situation."
The hotel first opened in 1984 and has been at the heart of downtown Buffalo's central business district. The company is currently informing all guests of the news and helping them make other arrangements.
It'll be very weird not to have the Hyatt operating that building in the city...
