Western New York has tons of great things for people to do and experience all over the region. From great food and restaurants to amazing cultural gems and architecture, Buffalo and the surrounding area are a hotbed for all things fun and interesting.

Cities like Buffalo and Rochester are also quite historic, thanks to their position on the Erie Canal. Several nuggets of history make this a key destination to find intriguing things from yesterday.

It seems that one of the many reasons a popular television show, which is known for finding hidden treasure all over America, and has been on the screen for more than 30 seasons, is heading to the region to wow Western New Yorkers.

Antiques Roadshow Is Coming To Western New York to Find Hidden Gems and Discover History

The 23-time Emmy Award-nominated show Antiques Roadshow has spent the last 30 seasons criss crossing the world hunting for treasure that's been locked away in people's attics and basements for years, and as part of it's 31st season, it's bringing expert appraisers, auction houses, and independent dealers to help people find out if their heirlooms, antiques, art, and collectibles have any value.

Later this year, the show is coming to the Genesee Country Village & Museum in Mumford, New York, on Wednesday, June 17th, to film episodes and give verbal valuations.

I, like many people around WNY, have been a fan of this show for years, and getting a chance to see it happen live is great.

Tickets to attend as a guest and have your possessions evaluated are free. You can register here on the PBS Website.

UPSTATE LEGEND! The Medina Railroad and Toy Train Museum (Medina, NY)

Medina, New York is a pretty little community of about 6,000 residents only 20 minutes form the southern shore of Lake Ontario. It is in Ontario County. But in this small town is one of Upstate New York's great treasures. The Medina Railroad Museum is a veritable snow globe of nostalgia. In a historic old train depot you will find one of the largest electric train exhibits east of the Mississippi. Hundreds of trains crisscross past hundreds of period miniature buildings all the while passing thousands of little people waving and going about their daily business. It is an eyeful, and it is a masterpiece of miniaturization. Outside the toy train museum they host real vintage trains offering theme rides for passengers including a one-hour Polar Express ride that no kid will ever forget. Take a look at the gallery below for this incredible and fun place. All visitor information is at the end of the gallery.
