The City of Buffalo has been in a sort of financial crisis that seems to get worse just about every day. The crisis itself isn't getting worse; it's just that we're finding out more about it every single day. The long-term impacts of city officials' seemingly refusal to make hard decisions to ensure New York State's second-largest city is on a good financial footing border on lunacy.

As the people of Buffalo and Western New York deal with the need to raise additional revenue coming into the city's bank account, it seems one of the ways that more money will be shoveled into City Hall will be on the backs of its citizens and the people who have to do business in Buffalo.

Back in March 2025, when the Buffalo Common Council was working on the city budget, the Council approved increasing fees and fines for parking inside the city limits.

It's clear that the city needs to do something to increase revenue, and while people should make sure to observe current parking regulations, it's just plain mean to try to balance the budget on the backs of people who work and live in the third poorest city in America.

What do you think? Should the city keep raising fees and fines?
