The city of Buffalo is hosting its 36th annual Ball Drop and Fireworks Celebration in downtown Buffalo on New Year's Eve, Sunday, December 31, 2023.

It's taking place in Roosevelt Square, right in front of the Electric Tower, and activities begin at 10p. Live music entertainment will feature Saxophonist Will Holton and The Strictly Hip, with the ball drop happening right at Midnight. An impressive fireworks show is scheduled to happen directly afterward.

Because of this, several roads around downtown Buffalo will be closed on Sunday, and the Buffalo Police Buffalo recommends that you avoid trying to drive around Roosevelt Square. The following streets will be closed:

  • From 1pm Sunday to 6am Monday:
    • Chippewa Street, from Delaware Avenue and Pearl
  • From 4pm Sunday to 2am Monday:
    • East Huron Street, from Pearl and Ellicott Streets;
    • Genesee Street, from Huron and Ellicott;
    • Main Street, from Mohawk and Chippewa Streets;
    • Washington Street, between Mohawk and Chippewa.

But the ball drop and fireworks aren't the only things happening in the 716 on New Year's Eve.
