Casket Factory Apartments Officially Under New Ownership
In one of the last vestiges of a complex sale of 18 area apartments and commercial buildings—most of which were in the City of Buffalo—Toronto-based investors Gold Wynn Interests have officially taken ownership of the Allentown Lofts.
Gold Wynn Allentown Lofts LLC paid $3,106,641 for the 10-unit former casket factory at 430 Virginia St. in Buffalo’s Allentown neighborhood. The century-old, four-story building had been owned by New York City investor Tony Kissling’s Kanadague Interests LLC. Kissling sold the Allentown Lofts along with 17 other area properties to Gold Wynn more than six years ago.
The Sept. 23 transaction, recorded in the Erie County Clerk's office, was the last phase of an installment sale between Gold Wynn and Kissling.
Gold Wynn has been managing the Allentown Lofts since 2018.
Kissling bought the 27,000-square-foot building in 2006 and invested more than $2 million converting it from a casket factory into market-rate apartments. All 10 units are leased.
The building was once home to the National Casket Co. and later the Yorktown Casket Co. before Kissling acquired the Virginia Street property.
