One of the major events of the year will be happening here in less than two weeks and everybody wants to know "How Dark Will It Really Be" during the total eclipse of the sun.

EXTRA: WILL IT BE CLOUDY ON THE DAY OF THE SOLAR ECLIPSE?

I was living in Evansville, Indiana when the city was on the fringe of the "path of totality" and it was like dusk came early around 3 pm. It got dark enough where you noticed it right away but it didn't get dark enough for street lights to automatically turn on.

So how dark will it be in places that are in the direct path of "totality" like Buffalo, New York?

According to NASA's website, it will feel like it is early dawn hours or late dusk. You still will get some sunshine coming towards you from around the moon.

EXTRA: WNY EYE DOCTOR WARNS NOT TO DO THIS DURING ECLIPSE

It will not feel like it is 11:30 at night.

In the path of totality, where the Moon completely covers the Sun, the sky will become dark, as if it were dawn or dusk. For those who only experience a partial solar eclipse, the sky will appear slightly darker than it was before the eclipse, depending on how much the Moon blocks the Sun in their location.

The one thing you will feel is a drop in temperature. Since we get warmth from the radiation of the sunbeams on our skin, when it is blocked, the temperatures will drop around 5 degrees during the time of totality.

On average totality will last between 3 and 5 minutes depending on where in the country you are located at.
