WGRZ has announced who will be taking over the 5:30 pm newscast.

It was just a couple of weeks ago that Michael Wooten was taken off the air.

According to the Buffalo News, Wooten left the station after 14 years.

Wooten had most recently been the anchor of the Townhall news program on WGRZ at 5:30 pm. Wooten's contract was expected to expire at the end of August and it looks like WGRZ and Wooten couldn't come to terms on a new deal.

The Buffalo News reported that Wooten was looking for a new role at the station but was told by station management that he would no longer be working at the station.

Wooten has been taken down from WGRZ's website and his last post on Twitter was back on August 10th.

Yesterday WGRZ announced that longtime Buffalo news reporter and anchor Claudine Ewing would anchor the 5:30 news now.

Ewing has been working at WGRZ since 1998 and has won several broadcasting and industry awards. She has also been the weekend anchor for WGRZ's 6 pm and 11 pm newscasts. She also produces and co-hosts the monthly "commUNITY" show that airs on channel 2.

As for Michael Wooten, he still has not announced what his next move will be.
