Is There A Goaltender Problem In Buffalo, New York?
The Buffalo Sabres have a chance to win their first NHL playoff series since 2006, but the big question is who will be in net for the Sabres?
Is There A Goalie Battle In Buffalo?
All season long, the Buffalo Sabres used a goaltender rotation between Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen and Alex Lyon, with Colton Ellis playing a couple of games.
Both Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen and Alex Lyon have each started two games in the Sabres playoff series, with UPL going 1-1 and Lyon going 2-0. So who will be in net tonight, that is the big question.
In hockey, a goaltender can win or lose you a series, so do you stay with the goalie rotation or do you keep Alex Lyon in net until he loses a game?
This season, Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen started 34 regular-season games, winning 22 games with a GAA of 2.52.
Alex Lyon started 34 regular-season games, winning 20 of them with a 2.77 GAA.
In the playoffs, Lyon is 2-0 with a .89 GAA while UPL is 1-1 with a 4.19 GAA

If you ask me, I would go with the hot goalie, so that would mean Alex Lyon would get the start. I would continue to start him until he lost a game, and then you could go back to the goalie rotation if you wanted.
Is that what the Buffalo Sabres are going to do? We will have to wait and see until tonight when we see the starting lineup.
Who would you start tonight in Game 5 against the Bruins, UPL, or Alex Lyon? Let me know HERE or send me a message using our free app.
