Jared Wygant Is This Week’s Hometown Hero!

This week's Hometown Hero comes to us originally from Angola. Congratulations to 23-year-old Jared Wygant. He is a Seabee from the U.S. Navy, and he has been chosen as this week's Hometown Hero.

Jared joined the Navy right out of high school in 2008 and since then has been all over the world!

Prior to the Navy, Jared was a Naval Sea Cadet and would drill in Buffalo and aboard the USS Sullivans. Currently Jared is stationed in Gulfport, Miss., but as the motto says, “Join the Navy ~ See the World”. Jared has been in Spain, Morocco, Cuba, Afghanistan and Qatar and will be deploying later this summer for a tour in Africa. He is currently an Equipment Operator and also served on Honor Guard for funerals. One of his favorite jobs lately though is picking up returning troops from the airport and delivering them to their waiting loved ones!!
