The Buffalo Bills Send Another Defensive Player To IR
This year has been a rough one for injuries on Sean McDermott's defense. Today, they've announced they're sending another player to Injured Reserve.
It has been a year full of adversity once again for the Buffalo Bills. Although they haven't had to deal with things like major storms and rescheduled games yet, the injuries continue to pile up on the defensive side of the ball.
The Bills have already lost a lot of big players
It's normal for teams to lose players throughout the year to injury. Football can be a very violent sport. People are moving at high speeds and colliding into each other every single play.
The Bills had a couple of defensive players who were still coming back from injuries to start the year. Not only was Von Miller still trying to recover from an ACL tear but Tre'Davious White was still on the mend from the previous year, and Micah Hyde was essentially recovering from neck surgery.
Almost immediately at the beginning of the year as the Bills were taking on the Miami Dolphins they lost Tre'Davious White once again to injury. Then they lost both Matt Milano and Daquan Jones while they were in London taking on the Jacksonville Jaguars. Kaiir Elam was placed on IR in December too.
That's just the defensive players.
Today, the Bills are placing Jordan Phillips on IR
They were dealt another blow today as the Bills will be placing Jordan Phillips on IR to recover from a wrist injury. Phillips has been a huge presence on the interior defensive line since the loss of Daquan Jones a few weeks back. While they've gotten the good news that Jones' 21-day practice window has opened (he's returning from IR), he might not be at peak condition for a couple more weeks. Phillips will be missed.
The Bills will have to count on Ed Oliver and one of their newest additions, Linval Joseph to cause some chaos on the interior for a couple weeks.
Micah Hyde will most likely sit out too
According to coach McDermott, it won't just be Phillips missing this weekend. Micah Hyde has been dealing with a stinger for a couple of weeks and it looks as though he might not make it to play on Saturday either.
The Bills take on the LA Chargers this Saturday at 8pm.
