Key Buffalo Bills Player Undergoes Surgery; Will Miss Time
The Buffalo Bills are one of the top stories in the NFL, after their dismantling of the Dallas Cowboys, 31-10 at Highmark Stadium on Sunday.
The Bills' 266 rushing yards were the most in the Sean McDermott era, and the most since Christmas Eve in 2016. James Cook accounted for 179 rushing yards and 221 all-scrimmage yards, which was more than the entire Dallas offense.
The Bills' defense came to play as well. Outside of a garbage time touchdown with three minutes remaining, the Cowboys were held without a touchdown and the game plan schemed by McDermott was flawless.
However, on Monday afternoon, news came of the Bills losing yet another key defensive player.
McDermott announced that defensive tackle Jordan Phillips underwent wrist surgery and would "miss some time."
It's unclear if Phillips misses a game or two, or potentially into the playoffs, if the Bills make the postseason.
Phillips has stepped up to be the best defensive tackle on the Bills after Ed Oliver. His absence means that Linval Joseph, Tim Settle and potentially Poona Ford will be asked to play more in these next three games.
The Bills' opponent on Saturday night will be the Los Angeles Chargers, who fired head coach Brandon Staley and general manager Tom Telesco this past Friday. They are out of playoff contention but as we know, a team firing a head coach during the season could mean a spark in play.
Justin Herbert will not play, however, as he is still recovering from his broken finger. Backup Easton Stick will start vs. the Bills, and we have to wait and see if wide receiver Keenan Allen plays or not. LA still has Austin Ekeler, who is a star running back.
The Bills cannot look past the Chargers.
