Bad news, there is yet another price increase for those who use natural gas in New York State.

The good news is that the warmer weather will be here soon and you might not have to use as much natural gas.

But for those who rely on the gas for cooking and drying clothes, the news of another price increase really burns.

Why Blue Flames?

According to National Fuel, the reason you see blue flames when you start a stove or see a pilot light on is that, "they burn blue as a result of the significantly higher temperature. Keep in mind that you are not actually watching gas "burning," per se. What you are seeing is hydrocarbon gas combusting. The gas ionizes, turning blue as it does so".

Cooking with gas is very efficient! But it may be more expensive for some in New York State soon.

According to many reports, Orange and Rockland Utilities customers are going to be paying more for their electric and gas service. Some might see their bills go up as much as 10 percent!

For example, going from two freezers to one.
