East Aurora residents have been informed that a major restaurant chain has plans to open a new store on Main Street.

According to the East Aurora Advertiser, Chipotle Mexican Grill has submitted a proposal to the Village Board hoping to be added to the plaza at the west end of Main Street between Sherwin Williams and Formula 3 Fitness.

Where will the new Chipotle go?

The plaza where they're looking to set up shop is the "Rite Aid" plaza between Hamlin and Buffalo Road.  If you've ever driven into East Aurora from Orchard Park, you know where the circle is as you're headed toward the village.  The plaza is close to that circle.  It's behind the Irishman and across the street from Bar-Bill.

Where it stands right now, Benderson Development has applied for a Special Use Permit from The Building Department which they have accepted to install a Chipotle Mexican Grille at 160-190 Main Street in East Aurora.

Does East Aurora need another restaurant?

East Aurora is well known for their restaurants.  One of the most popular would be Bar-Bill, but there are tons of great restaurants up and down Main Street including Mister's Bar and Lanes, 189 Burger, The Irishman, and more that are all in walking distance of this plaza.  Plus, they've already got three local Mexican restaurants that are already there with Left Coast Taco, Arriba Tortilla, and Las Brasas restaurants.

One of the biggest questions locals might have is whether they need a large chain restaurant there.

Right now, there are only 4 Chipotle restaurant locations in Western New York, with the closest one to East Aurora in Blasdell on Milestrip Road or Southwestern Boulevard in Hamburg.
