Jo Dee Messina's 2005 Music Video Filmed At Taste Of Country

As we get closer to the Taste of Country's 25th Anniversary, we are reliving some of the incredible shows of the past. At our 2005 show, Buffalo became the backdrop for a country music video.

By the time 2005 came around, the Taste of Country was already a tradition for people. It was just something they added to the calendar every year and planned on being there. So, to add the excitement that everyone there could be in a Jo Dee Messina video was really cool.

The 2005 Taste of Country Lineup

When we announced this show, we had two of the biggest stars of the time, an all-time favorite who was already making his second appearance at the show, and another star who was making his second appearance. The lineup was:

Jo Dee Messina

Phil Vassar

Neal McCoy

Brian McComas

Of course, it was Neal McCoy who was at our first Taste of Country show at the park, and Brian McComas who was just with us two years earlier in 2003.

Shortly after we announced it, we found out from Jo Dee Messina's team that she had chosen this show in Buffalo to record her video for her new song "Delicious Surprise (I Believe It)."

We were pumped. She was coming off of some huge hits with "Heads Carolina, Tails California," "I'm Alright," "My Give A Damn's Broken," and more, and she was going to record the video for the next one at our show?!?

Everybody was dressed their best just in case they got some camera time. They kept stopping the show to redo parts of the video and play the song again. Don't get me wrong, the show was still awesome, but the video part was weird. Then the video came out, and people started looking for themselves.

It would have taken an awful lot to find yourself on the video. Not only was there no way to see yourself on the video, even if you were standing right in the front row, there was no way to even tell that it was filmed in Buffalo. Most of the video was filmed in a studio and the only people you could see were arms in the air and the backs of their heads. It was pretty disappointing.
