Are the Buffalo Bills Getting Micah Hyde Back for the Playoffs?
For an entire generation of Bills fans (below the age of 35), they really haven't seen a Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins playoff game. They used to be common back in the '90s but we have not seen one since 1998 (24 years).
The Bills host the Dolphins this Sunday at Highmark Stadium for the Wild Card round.
For the Dolphins, they don't know who will start at quarterback. Head coach Mike McDaniel says that he will not commit to Tua Tagovailoa playing, whether it's this year or next year and that he has not yet cleared concussion protocol.
Backup Teddy Bridgewater is nursing a broken pinky finger but it feels like he has a better chance to play than Tua. Rookie Skylar Thompson is banged up, per McDaniel, but he's also in contention to start Sunday.
For the Bills, they will have Christian Benford back and head coach Sean McDermott said on Monday he though Tre'Davious White had his best game this past Sunday, since coming back in late November.
Could the Bills be getting their star safety back this Sunday? Or at some point this postseason? Maybe.
Bills photographer Joe Croom teased a big announcement from the team coming this week, which has many speculating it's a Micah Hyde return from his neck surgery this past September.
The entire thread is speculation it's a possible Hyde return, along with numberous quote tweets.
Hyde injured his neck on September 19th against the Tennessee Titans and had neck surgery soon after, which seemingly ended his season. He was placed on injured reserve.
Back in November, Hyde left the door open on a potential return before season's end.
Hyde has been working off to the side in recent weeks at practice. It would be a surprise if Hyde returned as soon as this week but we will have to see if he can return for the divisional or conference championship round, assuming the Bills make it that far.
The tease from Croom could also be regarding Damar Hamlin leading the charge via video board, but that's pure speculation on my part.
