Training camp is coming up soon. Before you know it, the first game at the new Highmark Stadium will be here. Bills Mafia will be there to tailgate. What things can and can't you bring, according to their rules?

Tailgating is a huge part of Buffalo Bills culture

When they were planning the new stadium, a lot of fans were concerned that they would try to take away the opportunity to tailgate as they do now. Let's be honest, our fans get a little crazy on a game day. It's common knowledge that Bills fans tend to take it up a few notches from most fans in the NFL.

But that doesn't seem to be the case at all at the new stadium. As a matter of fact, they're almost encouraging fans to tailgate (responsibly). They even made the parking spaces a little bigger to allow for room at the back of your vehicle just for that reason.

Tailgating won't be without rules at the new stadium, though

With brand new parking lots in the plans, you can imagine that the Bills will be setting down some rules that they expect the fans to follow. Most of them are pretty expected. You won't be able to stake anything down, like tents or shelters, if the stake needs to go through the surface of the parking lot. Whether it's charcoal or open fire, you will need to make sure that your fire is at least 6 inches off the surface of the lot. They don't want you starting a fire on the ground.

You also won't be able to have a private caterer at your tailgate. You can have food prepared and then bring it in, but they cannot prepare it there.

I understand why they have them, but some of the rules that I found a little surprising had to do with sound. You won't be allowed to bring in portable P.A. systems. So the DJs that you've seen in the back of trucks will not be allowed. You will be able to bring a small portable speaker, but no megaphones, airhorns, or other noise-making devices.

There are always private lots

Remember, these rules only apply to the lots that are controlled by the Bills themselves. Private lots are allowed to have their own rules that you will have to follow.
