Recently, a study was done by looking at the FBI's crime data to determine what the most popular cars were that were being stolen in the United States. Nationally, they found that pickup trucks were the most common with Fords leading the way, followed closely by Chevrolets.

In New York, though, it was Hondas. The Honda CR-V was the most commonly stolen vehicle in New York State. That was followed by the Honda Accord, and then the Honda Civic in third place.

Ways to avoid having your car stolen

One of the most common ways that people get their vehicles stolen is by leaving their keys in them. It seems like a stupid mistake, but it happens more often than you'd think. With vehicles changing from keys that need to be inserted to simple buttons that need to be pushed, it makes it easier to forget them in a console or a cup holder.

Another thing you should avoid doing is starting your car to let it warm up without using an automatic starter.
