NEW: Bear Sighting, Warning For New York State

There is a new warning about bears in portions of New York State that you should be aware of.

The snow is pounding portions of New York State. In fact, those whop are East of the Great Lakes are dealing with multiple FEET of snow in some of the heaviest bands of snow.

Winter will be here, officially, in just a few more days. By now, you would think that the bears would be in their den snoozing until the spring. However, that is clearly not the case in some areas of The Empire State.

According to reports, Watervliet, New York residents are being warned about bears. A drone captured images of the animals in a wooded area off 19th Street while there was a training exercise going on.

When it comes to bears in your area, there are a few things you can do to keep them moving along and out of your yard. Make sure you have no food for them. That could be trash, or pet food laying around. Close up garbage cans and keep Bird feeders out of the yard.

Hopefully, if all goes as planned, the bears will find their way to a comfy spot for the winter. But it is better to be safe than sorry and, like other wild animals, never try to approach a bears.
