According to WKBW, the state department of motor vehicles has recalled all the new Excelsior plates, after discovering in manufacturing that they were "too reflective," which made them unreadable by cameras used for the cashless tolls.

Some plates were shipped inadvertently to counties, but luckily, none have been shipped to drivers, according to WKBW.

This new design features Niagara Falls, the Adirondacks, Manhattan skyline, and the Statue of Liberty. The current license plates (blue and gold) will be issued until the new plates are ready to be distributed.
