Will alcohol finally be served in movie theaters in New York? Governor Cuomo proposed the idea recently to allow alcohol sales in movie theaters around New York. He proposed that one drink per transaction  EVEN if there is no kitchen would still bring in tons of money to the state and help struggling movie theaters.

What did the Senate and Assembly think? Absolutely no. It was heavily shot down, according to WGRZ.

The Senate denies the (governor's) proposal to authorize an Alcoholic Beverage license for the sale and consumption of alcohol in movie theaters," the Senate wrote in its budget resolution."

Currently, a movie theater could sell alcohol if it had its license and has a kitchen that can prepare food. Cuomo's proposal would not require a kitchen or selling food.
