Today is the trade deadline in the NFL. It's the final day that teams can make transactions with other teams for the rest of the 2025-2026 season. While the Bills have been pretty quiet up until the writing of this post, there was some really good news for the Buffalo Bills, and some bad news to go with it.

The good news at the trade deadline for the Buffalo Bills

The good news is that one of the Bills' divisional rivals is trading away some of its best players. The New York Jets are cleaning house today. They've already traded cornerback Sauce Gardner, who has been considered one of the best corners in the league, to the Indianapolis Colts. They also traded away one of their best defensive linemen by sending Quinnen Williams to the Dallas Cowboys. Williams has been a disruptive force when the Bills play them, so it will be good to see him get a fresh start on a team that doesn't exist in the AFC East.

The bad news at the trade deadline for the Buffalo Bills

The bad news is that the Jets have the potential to get really good, really soon. Those trades ended up landing the Jets some major draft capital. They were able to get two first-round picks (one in 2026 and one in 2027) plus former second-round pick AD Mitchell from the Colts. Then they were able to pile on a 2026 second-round pick and a 2027 first-round pick, plus former first-round pick DT Mazi Smith.

They are loading up for the next couple of years' drafts, which could make things very difficult for the Bills in the future. Over the next 5 drafts, they have the chance to get 5 first-round draft picks or trade up higher in those drafts. Granted, they're still going to have to hit on those draft picks, but with that many, you'd have to expect they're going to get some really good players back.
