4 Positions That The Bills Need To Upgrade Before The NFL Trade Deadline
The Buffalo Bills dropped their second straight game last night to fall to 4-2 on the season. They are now in second place in the AFC East, and many people are already counting them out. So what do they need to make things right again and get back in the winning column?
The Bills vs. Falcons game was rough!
It's easy as a Bills fan to look at what happened last night against the Atlanta Falcons and not feel completely helpless for the rest of the season. There's no sugar coating this. The defense was incredibly porous. It felt like nobody knew how to tackle. The 2-2 Atlanta Falcons moved the ball right down the field on their first drive and then continued doing it pretty much whenever they wanted for the rest of the game.
The offense wasn't much better. In fact, it might have been worse. Bills' receivers seemed to really struggle getting separation. Josh Allen was almost always under pressure, and you could tell that it was getting to him. Even he wasn't himself. He was flustered and made some uncharacteristically bad plays.
The Bills need to do a lot of work if they ever want to hear their names in the same sentence as "Super Bowl contender" again this year. But do they need to burn the whole thing down? People are calling for Brandon Beane and Sean McDermott's heads and essentially saying that there is no hope.
Here's the positive stuff
The good news is that the Bills are going into their bye week. That means that we can all just take a breath and they will have a little time to heal up and hopefully get their heads right. They will also be getting some players back from suspensions. Both Michael Hoecht and Larry Ogunjobi, who were brought in as free agents this year, will be eligible to return after the bye.
That might help on the defensive line, but if the Bills want to be in the mix in January, they might need to make some big upgrades in other position groups before the trade deadline.
