Police around New York State were busy arresting people and issuing tickets during Thanksgiving weekend. The Thanksgiving crackdown ran from Wednesday, November 24 through Sunday, November 28, 2021. State Police utilized sobriety checkpoints and DWI patrols. Tickets were issued for infractions such as speeding, distracted driving, seatbelt violations and, violations of the 'Move Over Law.' A total of 12,975 tickets were issued and 183 people were arrested for driving while impaired, according to the New York State Police. There were 1,041 crashes around the state, including one that was fatal.
