New York State Area Under State Of Emergency
There is a state of emergency in place in portions of New York State to start the first full week of 2025.
The snow has been piling up in areas of New York State that are downwind of the Great Lakes and it has made travel hazardous at times.
The cold weather has set in and it does not seem that Old Man Winter is ready to give up.
A state of emergency was declared in Oneida County as that area deals with the impact of a lake effect snowstorm.
The Central New York area and the areas east of Lake Ontario got pounded with snow.
More than 50 million were under some sort of winter weather alert as of early on Monday morning. Even in Washington DC they are dealing with the weather and schools and federal offices will be closed for Monday.
The good news is that some areas got enough snow to make great conditions to ride a snowmobile. Portions of the Tug Hill region have welcomed the snow as it will help the local economy with an influx of snowmobilers.
