There is some bad news for anyone who was making plans to witness a Triple Crown race in New York State this year.

We are only a few days after the big win for Sovereignty at the Kentucky Derby this past weekend, but even with the announcement this week,. it won't be the last we see of the majestic horse.

The Kentucky derby drew it's best audience on television in decades. On average, estimated 17.7 million viewers watched the Derby!

The horse that caught the attention of the world will be not be eligible for the Crown when it gets to the Belmont Race.

The Latest On The Race

As of early this week, it was announced that Kentucky Derby winner Sovereignty will skip the upcoming Preakness Stakes, making him ineligible for the sports most prestigious prize.

In horse racing, the schedule to win the crown goes from Kentucky, to the Preakness in Maryland and off to the Belmont which is being held temporarily at Saratoga in New York State!
