These Malls In New York State Are Absolutely Ginormous
With the ability to order anything we want on our phones and have it delivered right to our door, many of us have forgotten how fun a trip to our local shopping mall can be.
Remember back in high school when meeting friends at the mall was the ultimate weekend activity? A soft pretzel in one hand, an Orange Julius in the other, shopping bags looped over both arms? Sure, it was easy to blow our entire month’s allowance in just a few hours, and we got home completely exhausted from lugging around our haul all afternoon. But we all know that it was totally worth it for the rush of showing off our new threads at school on Monday and having our friends exclaim, “SO cute!! Where did you get that?”
Of course, malls aren’t just for shopping, either. Some of the best memories I have from when I was a little kid were tagging along with my Grandma to meet her friends for coffee (hot chocolate for me, of course) and going on a long, early morning power walk past the gated stores to get our “steps” in. I don’t think my Grandma and her gang of mall walkers ever walked fast enough to actually get any fitness in, but that wasn’t the point. The joy was doing some serious store window shopping and, if I behaved, getting to pop into KB Toys for a few minutes to play Sonic the Hedgehog.
New York State is home to some of the largest shopping malls in the country, and many of them could be right in your backyard! So this weekend, close out your Amazon app and hop in the car to spend some money IRL at the mall, like in the good ol’ days.
