The big day is here and all across New York State, the kids are putting on their favorite costumes and getting ready for piles and piles of candy!

As hard as we try as parents to teach our kids to be safe and to walk and pay attention on Halloween night, there are things that we still need to be vigilant about and worry about.

This year, police agencies across New York State and the New York State Police are ready to help keep communities and neighborhoods safe. State Police and volunteers will be teaming up for the annual Pumpkin Patrol. The goal is to prevent Halloween pranks on the Thruway and to protect people from drivers who take part in dangerous activities such as speeding or being behind the wheel while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

According to WKTV:

They will be staked out at bridges and overpasses over the New York State Thruway across the state this Halloween.

This year's Halloween will see the return of the cold and, in some places, cold and snow! Bundle up and be safe if you are going out with the little ones.
