If you had hoped to see fireworks in Niagara Falls, make new plans.

The popular show at Hyde Park on Independence Day was not approved by the city's common council.

According to Metro Source News:

Earlier this week, a 25-thousand dollar contract for the event wasn't approved by the City Council.  Opponents say the money would be better spent on things like taking care of vacant lots in the community.
