You may remember a time in your life when you thought it was funny to pull pranks on your friends by “tee-peeing the house” or “egging” their home. As you get older, you realize that these pranks aren’t as funny as you may have initially thought.

However, there are still people who will try to do things like this, thinking it will land well or create a good joke. And unfortunately, there was a group walking around Western New York on Monday night looking for their next target.

Taylor, a resident in the Lancaster/Depew area, warned the neighborhood Facebook group about what she had witnessed:

If you live in The Losson, Benz,  Sebring, Lemans area…. there are kids wandering around throwing eggs at Windows.”

As you can imagine, people were angry to hear that there is a group going around egging houses in their neighborhood, but there were a select few that were able to look on the bright side, saying, “I suppose it’s better than breaking into cars!”.

Another resident, Dana W, was surprised to hear that the act of egging is still a thing in 2024, with the price of eggs being up in local stores higher than recent years.

“In this economy?!?!” Dana was stunned.

Not only are egg prices up, priced at about $7/dozen by the end of 2023, the eggs can really damage your car.

A raw egg on a car or a house can peel the paint, so it can cause long term damage. Egging a house can be considered vandalism, which can be a felony or misdemeanor, so if you see someone egging a house, make sure you call the police.

Oh, and keep the ring cameras charged!
